Rocky Blumhagen is a lifelong seeker, performer, and teacher whose path weaves together music, radio broadcasting, and yoga. A dedicated yoga practitioner for over 30 years—and a committed teacher of Kundalini Yoga for the past decade.
His life has unfolded in three acts:
Act I: Music. After earning a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, Rocky spent seven years performing professionally throughout Europe, Canada, and the western United States. His repertoire drew from the Great American Songbook and the timeless works of Cole Porter, the Gershwin Brothers, and Irving Berlin.
Act II: Broadcasting. Returning to school for Radio and Television broadcasting, Rocky embarked on a 20-year career in radio. He worked across multiple formats, moving from sales and sales management to become a station manager, developing a keen understanding of communication and audience connection.
Act III: Returning to Song. Reconnecting with his first love—vocal performance—Rocky created and produced multiple shows centered on the Great American Songbook. These performances doubled as philanthropic endeavors, raising significant funds for charitable causes. He also served as music director and performer for a large spiritual center in Palm Desert, California, where his work combined artistry with service.
His current focus is Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras as a framework for life’s central questions: Why am I here? How can I serve? What is mine to do? How do I nurture a contemplative life?
Rocky plans to share this inquiry through teaching, leading weekly yoga classes for the Better Futures cohort and potentially the School of Divinity and Homerton College. His classes integrate āsana, prāņāyāma, mantra, mudrā, and flow with wisdom teachings, always circling back to questions of intuition, consciousness, and service to the greater good.
